Changed Your Wi-Fi Router or Password? How to Reconnect Your SolaX Solar Inverter

martinrudd • July 28, 2026

Did you recently switch NBN providers, upgrade to a new home router, or change your home Wi-Fi password?

If so, you might open your SolaX Cloud App only to see your solar monitoring offline or displaying a "Disconnected" status.

Don't worry—your solar panels are still generating electricity safely on your roof! However, because your SolaX Pocket Wi-Fi dongle relies on your home internet to send yield data to the cloud, it needs to be updated with your new router's network name (SSID) and password.

Here is a simple, step-by-step guide to getting your SolaX inverter back online.

What You Need on Hand Before Re-pairing

Before re-pairing your inverter, make sure you have:

  • Your new Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and password.
  • Your smartphone or tablet with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi enabled.
  • Standing near your SolaX inverter (mounted on your wall or garage).
  • Important: Ensure your home Wi-Fi network broadcasts a 2.4 GHz signal (most modern Wi-Fi 6 routers broadcast both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz, but solar inverters specifically require 2.4 GHz).

Step-by-Step: Reconnecting via the SolaX Cloud App

Step 1: Open the SolaX Cloud App

Log into the SolaX Cloud app on your phone.

Step 2: Access Network Configuration

  1. Tap on Service or Profile in the bottom navigation menu.
  2. Select Wi-Fi Configuration (or Network Setting).

Step 3: Connect to the Pocket Wi-Fi Dongle

  1. Press and hold the small Reset button on the bottom of your SolaX Pocket Wi-Fi dongle for 5 seconds until the LED indicator light starts flashing rapidly.
  2. The app will prompt you to scan the QR code printed on the side of your Wi-Fi dongle (or manually select the dongle's serial number from your phone's Wi-Fi settings).

Step 4: Enter Your New Wi-Fi Details

  1. Select your new home Wi-Fi network from the list.
  2. Carefully type in your new Wi-Fi password.
  3. Tap Connect or Save.

How to Check if It Worked

Watch the LED status lights on your SolaX Pocket Wi-Fi dongle:

  • 🔴 Red Light: Powering on / searching for network.
  • 🟡 Yellow / Amber Flashing: Connecting to your local router.
  • 🟢 Solid Green Light: Successfully connected to your home Wi-Fi and SolaX Cloud servers!

Once the light turns solid green, refresh your SolaX Cloud app. Your real-time generation graphs and battery charge status will begin updating again within 2 to 5 minutes.

Additional info:

Almost every modern SolaX installation includes a dongle, but it isn't built into the inverter box automatically—it is a separate plug-in accessory (part of the SolaX "Pocket" series) that your installer provides and plugs into the bottom port.

Here is how it works:

1. Included by Default in Install Packages

In Australia, almost all reputable solar installers include a SolaX Pocket WiFi dongle as standard with any new SolaX inverter setup. Connecting it to SolaX Cloud is necessary to activate the extended product warranty, allow remote firmware updates, and give you app monitoring.

2. Different Types of Dongles Available

Depending on your setup or requirements, installers choose from a few SolaX Pocket options:

  • Pocket WiFi (Most Common): Connects wirelessly to your home’s 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi router.
  • Pocket WiFi + LAN: Used if your Wi-Fi signal is weak in the garage/exterior wall and you prefer a hardwired Ethernet cable run to the inverter.
  • Pocket 4G: Uses a SIM card for rural properties or homes without local NBN/internet service.

3. When Someone Might Not Have One

  • Older Second-Hand Systems: If you moved into a home with an older SolaX setup where the previous owner misplaced the dongle.
  • Budget Installers: Very rare, but occasionally a budget installer forgets to plug it in or supply it.

If you have a SolaX inverter, look at the bottom panel where the cables connect—you should see a small white rectangular stick labeled "Pocket WiFi" or "DONGLE" screwed into the port.
