Roof Repairs & Restorations

Questions about roof repairs, restorations, tiled and steel roofing, membrane coatings, and compliance.

  • Do I need a full restoration or just repairs?

It depends on your roof's condition and your goals.

If your roof is structurally sound but has a few specific issues (broken tiles, leaks, localised rust), targeted repairs may be all you need.

If your roof looks tired, has widespread lichen or moss, or you want a uniform "like-new" finish, a full restoration is the better choice.

Martin will assess your roof and recommend the right approach.

  • Do you replace broken tiles?

Yes, we replace broken, cracked, or slipped tiles as part of our roof repair service.

We source matching tiles where possible to maintain a consistent appearance.

  • What is re-bedding and re-pointing?

Re-bedding involves replacing the mortar bed that holds ridge capping tiles in place when it has cracked or failed.

Re-pointing is the application of a flexible pointing compound over the bedding — this creates a waterproof seal and accommodates natural roof movement, reducing future cracking.

  • Can you fix roof leaks?

    Yes.

We identify the source of leaks — often around penetrations, valleys, flashings, or failed ridge capping — and carry out the necessary repairs to restore weather tightness.

  • What is roof membrane paint/coating?

The membrane coating we use is a high-quality acrylic elastomeric system designed for flexibility and durability.

It bonds to the prepared surface, provides an added protective layer, and gives your roof a uniform, refreshed "like-new" appearance.

  • How long does roof repair or restoration take?

Targeted repairs typically take 1–3 days depending on scope.

A full restoration — including repairs, cleaning, and coating — generally takes 3–7 days.

Weather conditions in SEQ can affect scheduling, and we plan around forecasts to ensure quality results.

  • Do you work on both tiled and steel roofs?

Yes. We service both tiled roofs (concrete/cement and terracotta) and steel sheet roofs. For steel sheet replacements, we use COLORBOND® steel only — not cheaper imported substitutes.

  • Do you use COLORBOND® steel for replacements?

Yes. If steel sheets need replacing, we use COLORBOND® steel exclusively.

This ensures consistent quality, known performance for Australian conditions, and better colour match and finish consistency compared to unknown substitute products.

  • What colour do you recommend for steel roofs in SEQ?

In South-East Queensland, a white roof finish is commonly chosen.

It provides a clean, fresh appearance and offers heat-reflective benefits that can help reduce cooling costs in our subtropical climate.

  • Do I need council approvals for roof work?

    It depends on the scope.

Straightforward maintenance and repairs typically don't require approvals. Larger replacement areas, structural elements, significant changes, or drainage impacts may trigger permit requirements.

Martin will confirm what applies to your roof and manage any required permits or approvals.

General Queries

  • Solar panel removal for painting

Solar panels remaining on the roof during the restoration/repair process are securely covered during the sealing/painting process, and up to 6 inches of paint goes under the panel.

If your panels require removal and re installation (as an additonal cost) before sealing/painting our specialist team can remove these for you and if they are compliant with safety standards and the system is in working order it will be reinstalled.

note: It is hard to determine/identify if any damage or repair issues will be required and owership of these repairs remains with the owner.

  • Can you check my solar panels before the restoration/repairs?

Yes.We conduct safety inspections and check your panels for damage upon your request - we can also tailer a new system (including batteries) in a package - call us to discuss your options.

  • Can I stay in my home during renovations?

In most cases, yes.  Roof restorations are easily managable while you stay home.
